IMPORTANT PRE-PARADE INFO (Posted February 15, 2019)


Thank you for being amongst the 250 guests we will be hosting at the 2019 Edison Festival of Lights Grand Parade!  We look forward to being your hosts.  Please meet up with our Scouts on Jackson Street, in front of the Chamber of Commerce building, using 2310 Edwards Drive as your GPS address.  Show your proof of purchase (printout, email or confirmation on your phone) and name the purchase was made under and you will be shown your seats.

PARKING:  Parking Gurages are located at #1) Bay St and Manroe #2) Main Street and Jackson St.

HANDICAP PARKING: two locations:  #1) Monroe and Edwards (Post Office)

 #2) First St. and Heitman St.  (Lee County Zoning & Permitting building)

SEAT NUMBERS: You will receive your seat numbers when you check in with one of our Scouts on Saturday evening. Our Scouts will be setting up our seats during the afternoon on Saturday and will have your names and number of tickets you purchased when you arrive.  

 

IMPORTANT PRE-PARADE INFO (Posted February 10, 2019)

Hello friends!  The Scouts of Troop 193 are excited to be your hosts for the Edison Festival of Lights Grand Parade on Saturday, February 16th.  If you have purchased tickets wtih us, thank you very much for your support of our Scouts.  All donations given and money raised over and above our ticket cost will go to defray the cost of Summer Camp 2019.  One week of summer camp for a Boy Scout can cost $500 or more, so this fundraiser is very important to us.  If you have not purchased tickets yet, do so before they sell out!!

If you have purchased seats, below is some important information for you regarding the event and your seats.

**On the day of the parade, please stay tuned to the local radio and news stations for updates regarding road closures on Route 41 south of Lee Memorial and into downtown Fort Myers.  Generally speaking, road closures will begin around 5pm and continue through the end of the parade, which can last until 9:30 or later.

**The STREET SEAT your have purchased is an actual SEAT, not just a spot for a seat (they are heavy duty folding chairs).  You do not have to bring a chair, and we ask that you don't as the seats will all be set in rows.  You are welcome to bring a cushion for your seat if you'd like.

**Our seat location begins at the corner of Edwards Drive and along JACKSON STREET, in front of the Chamber of Commerce building.  You can use 2310 Edwards Drive as your GPS location.  We will have TROOP 193 signage in our area.  Look for that and our Scouts!

**We will be assigning seat numbers/letters as we get closer to the parade, as we still have individuals coming in as add ons to other groups.** 

**We have 50 seats (2 rows of 25) on the street at the corner of Edwards and Jackson (tickets designated with LETTERS) and 200 seats (2 rows of 100, with a small break for egress every block of 25 or so) on the sidewalk along Jackson Street (tickets 1051-1250).  The LETTER seats will be set up directly after the 5k ends, as they span the actual route of the run.

**With regard to parking - there are two parking garages in downtown Fort Myers.  Both "City of Palms Parking Facility" (2118 Bay Street) and "Ft Myers Parking Garage" (2286 Main Street) are nearby and a short walk.  HOWEVER, the lots fill up the closer you get to 5pm so you will need to plan accordingly if driving.  The Edison Festival does not provide a shuttle from any parking area to the parade seat area.

**UBER and LYFT are your best bet, again using 2310 Edwards Drive as your destination.  Depending on your arrival time, you may have to be dropped off closeby instead of being able to get to the actual seats.  If you have people in your group who have walkers or wheelchairs, you may be able to get closer to DROP OFF, but there is no designated Handicapped Parking that will get you wihin the closure area.

**Check the weather!  The parade begins at sundown - approx 7pm - and give that we are seated right off the river, it can be cooler and breezy at night.  Once that sun goes down, it can get cool quickly.  

**Please check our website at https://troop193tix.ticketleap.com/troop193tx/ for maps and photos of the Troop 193 seating area.  We are excited that many of you are coming as large groups to enjoy the evening and we have done our best to keep your groups together.  Please bear with us if we didn't get it exactly right and rest assured, the seats are movable and we have a large area to accomodate everyone. **With regard to actual seats and names - for those that placed orders with multiple names for the individual seats, we won't be checking down to the individual name when you arrive.  You can let our Scouts know the name of the purchaser when you arrive, as that is how we have the tickets noted on our seating chart.  If you have purchased on behalf of a group, just let them know to give your name when checking in.  We realize plans change and if you purchased 20 tickets and your group attendees have changed, thats perfectly fine with us!

**YES, there will be food and beverage vendors nearby and they stay open for the duration of the parade.  Cash is always a good idea, although I'm pretty sure many of them also take SQUARE for purchases.  Many of the downtown restaurants stay open as well.

The 2019 Edison Festival of Lights GRANDE PARADE will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2019.  Boy Scout Troop 193 is once again selling fantastic STREET SEATS for the event.  This is THE BEST way to watch the parade - up close and personal! 

Seats are located on Jackson Street, at the intersection of Edwards Drive, in front of the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce on Jackson Street.  

**Please note, if you joined us last year or have attended in previous years, the parade route for 2019 has changed due to construction downtown and along Edwards Drive.  Seating placement is different than last year.**
